These indicators support the Level I structure and process indicators by providing specific data about critical pharmaceutical outcomes. The survey was carried out in six geographic regions and focused on the Level II core indicators. The structures and processes in the pharmaceutical sector were assessed using structured questionnaires. The survey was carried out using the WHO Operational Package for Monitoring and Assessing the Pharmaceutical Situation in Countries (June 2003 version) WHO/EMRO supported MOH, Egypt in 2007 to carry out a baseline survey in the pharmaceutical sector to assess the current situation regarding access, quality and rational use of medicines. Results for such assessment can be used as a guide by policy makers and managers to develop and define the necessary changes and priority areas that require support for improved health for all. Its Evaluation provides baseline information on the degree of access to essential medicines that are of good quality, efficacious and that the medicines are being used in a rational manner.
